Why Order Textured Swatches? (Don't Guess the Weave!)

In the world of wedding styling, texture is just as important as colour. While a screen can show you the shade, it can’t show you the feel.

A "Sage Green" looks very different in a flat matte cotton compared to a shiny twill weave. Why? Because of the light. Textured fabrics absorb light, creating shadows and depth that change how the colour is perceived. Ordering individual swatches from the categories below allows you to see the true character of the fabric before you commit.

A Guide to Our Textured Swatches

Not sure what to add to your basket? Here is what you can expect from each texture in this collection:

  • 1. Woven Swatches:
Order these to see the detail. You will be able to see the individual threads that make up the fabric, giving you a true sense of the quality and depth.
  • 2. Matte Swatches:
Essential if you are trying to match a specific non-shiny bridesmaid dress (like chiffon or crepe). These samples will help you confirm that the fabric has the flat, modern finish you are looking for.
  • 3. Knit Swatches:
You need to feel these to believe them. These swatches are thicker and softer than standard ties. Use them to see if the "chunky" texture works with your suit lapels.
  • 4. Tweed & Wool Swatches:
Check the weight. These samples are generally thicker than silk or satin. We recommend pinning these to the groom's jacket to ensure the rustic texture harmonizes with the suit fabric.
  • 5. Pattern Swatches:
See the scale. Since these patterns are woven in, ordering a swatch lets you see exactly how big the design is and how the light catches the raised parts of the pattern.
  • 6. Twill & Rib Swatches:
Check the direction. These swatches show off the diagonal (Twill) or horizontal (Rib) lines. Hold them up to the light to see how the ridges create a subtle, sophisticated two-tone effect.

Expert Tip: The "Window Test"

Once your textured swatches arrive, take them to a window. Natural daylight is the only way to see how the texture affects the colour. You might find that the Matte swatch matches the dresses perfectly, while the Twill offers a better contrast for the Groom.
