How do I get a Colour Match?

How do I get a Colour Match?

Choosing the perfect shade for your groomsmen's ties, ribbons, and accessories can be one of the trickiest decisions in wedding planning. With hundreds of colours to choose from - and subtle variations that only show up in real life - colour matching services take the stress out of the process. Here’s how it works here at Swagger & Swoon:

Step 1: Explore, Order, and Compare Swatches

The colour matching journey begins by browsing through our wide range of colour collections - whether you’re drawn to timeless neutrals, soft pastels, or rich jewel tones, you’ll find plenty of inspiration grouped by colour family on our website. Even if you’re not sure of the exact shade name, choosing a swatch pack like Dusty Pink, Sage or Burgundy is a great way to narrow your options.

Once you’ve identified a few favourites, you can order fabric swatches - small pieces of the actual fabric used in our products. These swatches are posted to you so you can see the true colour and texture in person. Once they arrive, place them next to your bridesmaid dresses, bouquet, table linens, or other wedding elements to see how they look in natural daylight and under venue lighting. This side-by-side comparison is key to confidently choosing the perfect match before placing your final order.

Step 2: Send in a Swatch and Get Expert Help

If these don't give the perfect match first time or you already have a specific fabric you’re trying to match - such as a bridesmaid dress, an offcut from a tailor, or an official swatch from a bridal boutique - you can post it to us for a more precise match. This is especially helpful when you're trying to coordinate accessories like ties, pocket squares, or flower girl sashes with existing outfits.

Once we receive your fabric sample, our expert team will carefully compare it to our fabric range and identify the closest possible match.  Once we’ve found your best match, we’ll send you some swatches confirm the colour and help you move forward with your order - giving you total peace of mind that everything will coordinate beautifully on the big day.

Or Send Us a Photo for Colour Guidance

If you’re not able to send in a physical swatch, a clear photo can still be incredibly helpful. Simply lay your bridesmaid dress (or any item you’re trying to match) next to the swatches you’ve received and take a photo in natural daylight or good indoor lighting - ideally near a window and without harsh shadows. Then, send the photo to us via email or Facebook/Instagram.

Our team will assess the colours shown in the image and guide you toward the closest matches from our range. While photos aren’t quite as precise as a physical sample, they’re a great starting point and can often give us enough information to recommend the best option for your wedding palette, and get some swatches in the post to keep the colour matching moving.

Step 3: Place Your Order with Confidence

Once your colour match has been confirmed through swatches you've reviewed at home - you're ready to place your order! Use the swatch code to place your order (it starts with sw_ and usually looks something like 'sw43091') - this will bring up every product available in your colour and ensure you're ordering the right colour!

With the perfect shade selected, you can move forward knowing that your ties, pocket squares, cravats, or other accessories will beautifully complement the rest of your wedding colours. Every item is made using the same fabric as the swatches, so there are no surprises when your order arrives. Whether you're coordinating across a large bridal party or just adding those final finishing touches, you can order with complete confidence, knowing everything will come together seamlessly on the day.

A Few Tips Before You Begin

  • Order a few swatches to compare variations in the different colours.
  • View swatches in daylight and evening light—lighting can dramatically alter perception. Think about where your photos will be taken - will this be in artificial indoor lighting? Or bright June sunshine?
  • If you have a bridesmaid's dress swatch from the company, sending in their swatch is the fastest way to match.
  • Don’t forget the men’s accessories: ties, pocket squares, cravats—everything can seamlessly coordinate once colour matched.
